Here’s a simple and beautiful Iris Crochet Flower Tutorial – perfect for embellishing hats, bags, blankets, or just adding a touch of handmade nature to your décor!


🌸 Materials Needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in purple, yellow, and green (or colors of your choice)

  • Crochet hook (typically 3.5mm to 5mm, depending on yarn)

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors


🧶 Abbreviations (US Terms):

  • ch = chain

  • sl st = slip stitch

  • sc = single crochet

  • hdc = half double crochet

  • dc = double crochet

  • tr = treble crochet

  • st = stitch

  • sp = space


Iris Flower Petals (Make 3 Large + 3 Small Petals)

Large Petals (Make 3 in Purple):

  1. Ch 12

  2. Row 1: In 3rd ch from hook: dc, dc in next 3 sts, tr in next 5 sts, 5 tr in last st

  3. Rotate your work to crochet along the bottom of the chain: tr in next 5 sts, dc in next 4 sts, sl st to starting ch

  1. Ch 20

  2. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next 3, dc in next 6, tr in next 6, dc, hdc, sc

  3. Fasten off


Assembly:

  1. Arrange the 3 large petals equally spaced in a circle. Slightly overlap and sew in place.

  2. Add the small petals in between the large ones and sew.

  3. If using the yellow beards, sew one to the center base of each large petal.
